life.

sometimes you say things things that you have every intention of doing and then you realize you haven't accomplished what you once thought you would and have to come out to everyone and say.. Ooops!

i know i said i was back to blogging and obviously that hasn't happened.  instead, i have caught up on all of my DVR'd most favorite trashy reality TV shows.  instead, i decided napping was more important even though getting up and going for a photo walk is something that i know will make me happy.  instead, i've been doing entirely too much retail therapy.  instead, i'm finding myself spending more time online than i want - yet not blogging.   i haven't picked up my camera and when i randomly snap a picture with my phone i never think to upload it here

i'm having a really rough time dealing with the fact that easter is approaching.  easter, last year, was really the last day i had a coherent momma.  easter, last year, i convinced my momma she needed to go to the emergency room because it was obvious she was developing an UTI and needed some strong antibiotics.  i have so many regrets and what if's that surround easter of last year.  it's those memories and ideas that have been flooding my mind and i hate it.

i "got through" the first mother's day, birthdays, halloween, thanksgiving, christmas, and new years.  i suppose this is the last of the "firsts" and it really may be the toughest day of the year for me.  we have yet to watch jesus christ superstar.  it was a tradition that she had - to watch it daily during lent and almost non stop on good friday.  she and the demon would watch it constantly.  he has started asking to watch it and just the thought makes me teary.

last night he came back inside after letting the dog out to do his business (ie. eat poop) and mentioned seeing a bright star.   "Guess who it was?"  he asked me.. i knew where this was going so i tried to make light of the situation.  "Mufasa!!??  Did you see The Lion King!!??"   "Pizzaaaa tiiiimeee??!"

i could see he was getting a little irritated with me so i finally said... "granma?"  he said "yeah, i told her good night and i love her."

i think easter is finally getting to him as well.

so, we'll watch jesus christ superstar this weekend and the inside of my cheek is sure to be bitten raw as i hold it together.  as much as the freakin' movie has annoyed me my whole life (seriously, by the age of 10 i knew every word to every song)  it's one tradtion that i will happily continue.  i think i'll do a trial run before sitting and watching it with the demon for the first time since last easter.

probably, that's a good idea.

top ten V.18

as i was trying to think up a topic for today's top ten i realized that i'd probably rather be doing something else.  so, as i was giving up and thinking that i'd just take today off, it hit me.. let's look at 10 things i'd rather be doing.

01.  sleeping!  {needs no real explanation}

02.  decorating for halloween.  what a creepy fabulous idea!

source

03.  browsing.  i was originally thinking - shopping - but really, i love to just walk around and dream of buying.

04. listening to this cd.

source

05.  celebrating the 25th anniversary of this movie by watching it!

source
06.  eating a piece of cake.  if for no other reason, than i want a piece of cake right now.

07.  taking a peaceful, long, hot shower.

08.  getting a tattoo. that says a lot.. i'd rather be sitting in a tattoo parlor with a needle going through my flesh - than to be doing what i'm currently doing.

09.  watching trashy reality television!  no really, does anyone else watch the real housewives of new jersey?  a 3 part reunion show?!  weee  i can't wait.  is there a season 5 planned?  i sure hope so.

10.  walking around the zoo.  i love visiting the cincinnati zoo on cool, crisp days.  when you add in the fact that it's also a rainy, dreary day... that equals heaven for me.  elephant poo and all ♥

dentist, a bunch of fishes, and the batman.

i know i'm late!  it's taking me forever to edit pictures...

first up, tuesday morning, the three of us were scheduled for teeth cleanings!  they look thrilled.  in the end i have 3 small cavities (wtf?!) the beast has 4 small cavities (WTFF?!) and the demon was in the clear.  go figure.  but don't you totally love the whole vintage vibe of the waiting room?  i don't think it's changed my whole life.   after the cleanings we rushed around to get gas, hit the atm, and meet up with my brother and sister and law and then we were off!

off to the aquarium.

we were really excited to see mighty mike!  before i go any further, be sure to click that link (but come back here!!)...that's the best shots of the alligator you'll get. the actual display was awful.  i got absolutely no good photos of mighty mike.

in fact, it was very difficult to get any pictures of the animals.  between the very low lighting and the glass aquariums throwing off mad crazy reflections.. it was extremely hard.

of all of the displays at the aquarium my favorite are the jellyfish!

such beautiful creatures.  i think i could've sat in that area for hours and just watched them swim.

oh, just so you don't think we completely skipped over mighty mike, here he is...

what a joke!  he was under water in a huge aquarium that you could walk up to for easy viewing.  i felt awful for him being in that enclosure.  blah!  i think i'm getting too old and sensitive when it comes to going to zoos and other animal exhibits.  it usually makes me very sad by the time we leave.

after the aquarium we all went to our separate houses to shower and get ready for the movies!

we went to see dark knight rises. fantastic movie and if you haven't seen it, or either of the two movies that came before it, you need to...and soon!  i mean, fantastic doesn't adequately describe how really good this movie was - you have to see it for yourself.

okay!  that was day #2, i really hope to get #3 up tomorrow but considering how lame i was with day #2, i am kinda doubting i will get it up in time.  hopefully, i'm just leaving ya'll in total suspense!

haha...somehow i doubt that as well.  :)

Movie Mayhem!

Anyone remember this post?  Well, this is how the shelves are looking now...

Ugh... I need more room for the Horror.  This weekend I'm making the move to the larger bookcase.  But, first they need to be dealt with because here is what they look like...

What a cluster of crap!  There is no rhyme or reason to our movie organization.  We also have the "lazy basket"....

This basket is a collection of movie cases, Wii game cases, my camera bag?and USB cord, and pet items.  The only thing that should be in this basket are the random pet items.  It's considered the "lazy basket" because instead of putting these cases and items where they belong, they just get dropped there after replacing movies and games in the Wii and DVD player.

So... this weekend I'm back in organization mode.  These shelves will be dealt with along with breaking open that steam cleaner and attacking the bathroom and mattresses.  I have to decide how long I want to be the Bed Bug prevention maniac.  Notes have come home from school saying the school is clean.  Notes have said that steps are being taken to keep it clean.  We have no evidence of any creepy crawlies!  Do I continue to make the Demon enter through the basement, throw his clothes in the dryer, and keep his book bag outside?  Or... do I just blindly go about my business and return to the "eh, it won't happen to us" mentality?  I guess I will have to let my wild imagination lead the way.

Happy Freaky Friday!

Hope you enjoy your weekend, but in honor of today I have an assignment for everyone (myself included).

This is your homework for the evening.  If you do nothing else at all, you must watch this movie.

Enjoy!

Top Ten V.2

Grrr.  I missed blogging  yesterday.  WTF happened to my "blog for 10 minutes" goal!?  Well, it went out the window.  But let's get to it.. this weeks top ten.

01.  The Demon is sick.  He's home today for the second day in a row.  The most interesting part of the Demon being sick this week is that he was sick this very week last year.  I went to refill his inhaler script and it had expired 9/7/11!  What a coincidence.

02.  It's no secret to anyone here that I love me some reality TV.  I watch Hair Battle Spectacular.  Why!?  This show is so stupid lame that I often think to myself... "Really?  I just sat through another hour of this crap!?"  But then a fight occurs on the show and a chic punches a dude - and it makes it worth while.  :)

03.  This weekend we're planning on going to the RenFest!  I hope to have many, many pictures for Monday.

04.  I'm tired.  I have a feeling that this topic may appear on each and every random Top Ten.

05.  There has been only a handful of Horror movies that I've had to turn off before the end.  Not because of the gross out factor - but because of the fact I am BORED out of my mind.  Repo! The Gentic Opera was added to that list on Saturday.

06.  Yesterday the temperature climbed back into the 80's.  UGH.  Too hot!!  I want my high 60's - low 70's back.  I especially want the weather cooler for Saturday.

07.  I have yet to lose a single lb since being home from the hospital... over a month.  I'm a huge failure.

08.  Grannie's 88th birthday is tomorrow.  It's been another rough year with Grannie.. but she's made it!

09.  I need a freakin' haircut!

10.We have a very loud cricket in our basement.  It's so loud that it just has to be huge.  I'm too afraid to go looking for it out of fear the damn thing is going to jump on me... so it is probably going to die somewhere in my very messy basement.  Ugh, they really aren't that scary.

... it's almost Wednesday - halfway to the weekend!

Harry Who?

I think I'm the only person on the planet that has not read a single Harry Potter book, or seen a Harry Potter movie.  Could that possibly be true?  Well.. probably not... but it sure feels that way.  So I got to thinkin'.... what else is super popular that I have not seen?

1.  Star Wars - I've never watched any of them.
2.  Lord of the Rings - Nope. None.
3.  Twilight - eeek.  Not a chance.
4.  Top Gun -  Really.. I haven't.
5.  Dirty Dancing - Nah.
6.  Pirates of the Caribbean - Nada.
7.  Indiana Jones - Not my cup of tea.

However, I can quote every single line of Labyrinth.   Who the hell needs box office smash hit movies when a person can watch the Goblin King - David Bowie - in tight ass pants singing and throwing a baby in the air?

Not me!  That's who.  :)

October 24, 2010

Does it count..

... that I drank diet Coke with some Amaretto??  I vote NO!  Who cares that I gave up pop.  When I have to waste time before seeing a movie..and a bar is available - I shall treat myself.

I did get to see Paranormal Activity 2 on Friday.  Scary!!!!  Other than the first Paranormal Activity, I've never heard people actually scream and gasp during a movie as I did for this one.   This sequel definitely got more screams.  It was so much scarier.   I've seen a lot of Horror movies in the theater.  Saw movies bring gasps and groans and the gore.  Halloween lead everyone to yell at the screen. at the stupid teenagers and their decisions.  These two movies brought...screams, gasps, cussing, shouting, jumps, eye covers (not just me), me accidentally elbowing the person in the seat next to me as I jumped 5 ft in the air out of my seat (sorry SIL)  and even reports of movie goers leaving the theater during the movie!

Seeing the movie at 12:30 am made for a pretty decent experience.  Yes, there were still some assholes that thought (for some seriously strange reason) seeing a baby walking around after being lifted out of his crib by  an invisible demon...was tear inducing hilariously funny.  Yes, there were jerks that thought whispering and talking during certain parts of the movie was appropriate.  But, for the most part, it was a quiet movie during the parts it needed to be.

After the movie, as we're walking out to the car, more than one man mentioned that he was still shaking.  Grown men.. tough looking dudes, were all talking about how freaky it was as they walked out of the theater.  Actually, I need to stop talking about this...I'm starting to flash back to moments in the movie and tense up.

Thank you to my sister in law for coming through and joining me.  Also, a HUGE thank you to my brother for making the night possible!!!

A Corny Classic.

I love old corny movies. It's no secret my favorite movie of all time is Labyrinth. I love everything about the movie. Every second. I know every word...and can recite it without even watching it.

Last week, while we were at the mall, I darted into Suncoast on a mission. To find - and purchase - Little Shop Of Horrors.  The Demon has never seen this movie.

This scene had him cracking up! He was reluctant to watch it at first. Claiming he doesn't like musicals. Really??! We love Wizard of Oz, Labyrinth, and especially Rocky Horror Picture Show. He quickly changed his mind after the "Feed Me" scene.

Thankfully! We can add another corny musical to our list.

What's next? The Pirates of Penzance!

August 7, 2010

Weird.

After days of feeling bad, I make a blog posting. Today I woke up and felt so much better! I should start complaining about feeling sick on day 1; maybe I would have felt better a lot sooner.

I did not get to sleep until 4am. I was dead this morning. Thankfully, the demon encouraged me to go back to sleep. Probably because I was grumpy? I'd like to think he was noticing how tired I was and felt sorry for me. I love napping. It has to be my most favorite thing in the world to do.

I can NOT stop wanting a new camera. Each time I use mine it reminds me I want a new, more improved model. Each time I see other peoples pictures it reminds me how much better their pictures are compared to mine. I'm such a covet-er. Is that the proper term? Probably not.

Time to cuddle with the demon and watch the end of Volcano. Love this movie!

August 4, 2010

Posting just under the wire.

(can't even tell he's sick, right?)

Whew! Almost didn't get my 10 minutes in today. What kind of blogger would I be if I couldn't even get one day under my belt!? A sorry excuse for one, that's the kind.

I'm tired. I'm not quite sure if I'm actually sick or if it is just allergies/sinus issues giving me grief this week. My throat has been on fire since Sunday night. I hate to complain, especially now with the Demon having such a rough time. I hope to get some sleep.

Tomorrow we go to see GI. Prayers. Prayers. Prayers!

I have a slight confession. I have a problem. When I start to want something I obsess about it until I go out and spend money - that I don't have - on something I don't need. Since my post yesterday, I have been googling and researching cameras. I know I won't be able to afford the DSLR camera....not for a long time (ever). I either am going to spend the aforementioned money, or obsess and obsess about a new camera. I need to refrain. Practice self control!!

I'm watching Pretty in Pink. I always forget how yummy James Spader is in this movie.

I can't stop yawning... I'm fading fast... better go, gotta get up early!

July 1, 2010

Strike what I said before.

I will be going to a midnight showing of this movie when it comes out in October. So keep your calendars open if you want to go with me!!! :)

Vampires?

....I'm slacking! I haven't been feeling 100% and I think (read: know) my blog is suffering. Actually, I don't really know if many people read this enough to notice that I'm slacking? lol I hope it's noticed!

Am I the only person not interested in the Twilight stuff? I'm sure if I were younger I'd be all over it. I was SO into Leonardo DiCaprio when I was younger (well.. I still think he's hot) and would see all of his movies. I even was given some type of Leonardo documentaries. ha! But I don't think I'd ever camp out or run to a midnight showing for one of his movies.

I love Horror movies. I will go see practically any and all Horror movies in the theater, most of the time opening weekend. But I can't say that I'd run out to any midnight showings that may be available. I just don't get the obsession? I guess it could be worse. lol

What I do think is great about the rush out to the midnight showings, is the time that the people going to see get to spend with each other. The massive amount of fans that join together to see the movies! I have a few friends that really are into the series. They've read all the books and planned a girls night out to see the movie tonight. It should be a lot of fun!

Even though I've given myself a self imposed ban on anything Brad Pitt.. he will forever be the #1 vampire to me.

Ahhhhhh.... Take that Edward!!!!

May 9, 2010

Wow...

I hope everyone enjoyed Mother's Day. Mine started highly stressful and disappointing but the day has ended on a much better note. A pie baby for dessert. =)

Mother's Day was a HIT with my Grannie and Momma. They LOVED the collage picture!! For my Mom, my brother and I went with ole reliable and bought her books. She loves the JD Robb In Death series, so we each gave her 3 books. I also bought some books for Christmas to give her. For Grannie, we went with smell good - non candle - gifts. We bought her quite a few of the scented oil reed diffuser things and a Febreeze Flameless Luminary . I've never used one of them, but they do look pretty! They both were beyond happy.

It looks like The Demon is suffering from some symptoms of his UC (Ulcerative Colitis). I am hoping it's just because he's had a cold and it's hitting his immune system a little harder than normal, and in a few days he will be OK. Please keep him in your prayers! Also say a little prayer for me. After the day I had with him today, if this attitude keeps up I need all the prayers I can get to keep me from flipping out on him. lol

Yesterday, my sister in law came down and we watched some scary movies and had a few drinks. Great time! I had not seen The Grudge yet. EEEKS...the face of the girl was too creepy. To be honest, I don't even want to think about that right now as I still have laundry to switch. If I imagine that face I will NOT want to go to the basement.

Uh.......too late. I think the laundry will have to wait until tomorrow.

April 30, 2010

He brought the pain.

Ahh. Before I go to bed I thought I'd update on the chiropractor. Things were surprisingly painless during the appointment. His office is in Lebanon so it's a decent drive to and from...by the time I was home I felt it. Pain! My neck, my hip, my shoulders - I quickly took a pain pill. lol Thankfully, that kicked in and I felt better. If nothing else, I hope the visit helps with my headaches.

After I picked up the demon from school (and after his haircut) I took Grannie to WalMart. Shopping with her is always an experience. A long experience. It's also always fun to shop for Mother's day gifts WITH her. She has no clue why I was asking her which picture frame she liked more. She asked, "Where are you going to put them?" Of course, I have no idea where SHE is going to put the gift so I just took a guess, "On the mantle." lol!!

There are many advantages of living with my momma. One big advantage is that she will watch movies with The Demon - the movies that I don't really want to see (or see again). They are currently watching Avatar. It's a great movie, just not a movie that I'd necessarily want to see over and over again. On the other hand, I am watching Jeepers Creepers. It's been awhile since I've seen it on DVD. EW! A lot nastier vs TV version. Not to mention, FREAKIER.

OK, I think it's time for my Pie Baby.....baby! ♥

(took some pictures today..will post 'em tomorrow)

April 23, 2010

The Spring/Summer Blah

It was weird. Late last night I went to bed watching Jeepers Creepers . Today the reruns of Family Feud were their Halloween Spooktacular specials. Then after Family Feud I switched to The Office and it was their Halloween special! I was in heaven.

Everyone always hears of SAD - Seasonal affective disorder. I think I have the opposite of that disorder. I am in such a funk from Spring until Autumn. Don't get me wrong, I love spending the extra time with the demon and the beast. I LOVE when he is home from school. All that said,.. I am my happiest from October - March. (minus tax season.. lol) I love all things Halloween. I love Christmas specials and family time during those holidays. I love snow, even shoveling. I know, I know I'm weird.

Oh well, I guess I'll have to bury myself this weekend in horror movies. My brother bought The Collector. His review "Dude, The Collector is no joke." & "Mass gore" (those were texts.)

...I'm off to be grossed out (hopefully!).

April 10, 2010

Kickin' Him Out!

If you know anything about me, you know of my love of Horror movies. We have a small entertainment center. On the two shelves, I was always nice and let The Demon have his own shelf. One housed my Horror movies and one occupied with whatever he wanted at the time. (Of course, I always have the control issues, so it was mostly my choice, lol) By the looks of things - My movies were taking over. I had to kick him out.

Much better! He won't care, but I do have a slight problem. Even with these two shelves I'm running out of room. Soon enough... I will have to take over a shelf in the big bookcase and I will let The Demon return to the little shelves next to the TV. (maybe!)

Well, I'm off. Instead of catching up on Nip/Tuck I have decided to watch some movies I DVR'd. Wrong Turn & Wrong Turn 2.
