i mentioned here about my new "no longer caring about my freakin' hair!" attitude. it's been over a month and i can't believe i'm still going strong! it's not as easy as i once thought. i wanted to go completely cold turkey and cut off all product/styling to my hair and unfortunately i just can't do that with my 'fro. i also have never repurchased a hair dryer so i really have no choice but to continue on this "no heat" journey.
however, after countless hours (ok.. not really that long) of scouring the internets i have found a trick!
sexaaay! |
this is the most amazing trick. so easy. so quick. and my hair stays semi less frizzy throughout the day.
see... it's still frizzy but it's a manageable frizzy. i think?
i wash my hair every other day - something else i could never do if i straightened it daily! i use quite a few different products on my hair, but none of them leave it crunchy or wet looking.
had to crop it a bit... i can't be showing off my roots! |
the above picture is from today. it's looking a bit more frizzed out today and the curls are not as tight because i didn't wrap it as tightly. this way of curling your hair is so easy and by wrapping the hair more/less tightly can change the look all together. did i mention how stupid easy this is?
can i also just add how weird it is that i'm posting more pictures of myself? i've always hated pictures of myself but in an effort to step out in front of the camera more often - i'm trying to take more "selfies".
some of the products i've been using (when i do the "friar tuck"):
Sally Hershberger Glam Waves Style Shaper Primer - I use this after my shower and work it through my wet hair.. very generously!
Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Spray - I use this to spray my hair before wrapping it around the head band. again, because my hair is so thick i have to spray a ton of this. if you have dry hair (and at times i do) this product does seem to leave your hair feeling a bit dried out... but i don't mind.
CHI Keratin Mist - Once I take my hair down from the "friar tuck" I then use this to help work my fingers through the curls/waves. i think using this helps to balance out the drying effect the texturizing spray seems to have.
i continue to work my hands through my hair (I haven't taken a brush or comb to my hair, unless it's in the shower when my hair is coated in conditioner!) alternating the above 3 products. no matter how much i've used i've never walked around with crunchy or wet looking hair. i'm surprised to report that this whole routine doesn't seem to be saving me any freakin' time in the morning.. BUT, it's been giving my hair a much needed break from heat and the damage that comes along with it!
there you have it! if you're looking at these pictures and thinking "wow, my hair is kinda like hers!" then i totally suggest giving this a try.
